 What are Tick-Borne Diseases/Illnesses (TBI)

Tick-Borne Diseases/Illnesses are bacterial infections caused by pathogens (disease organisms) and are transmitted mainly through tick bites. Ticks commonly carry more than one disease pathogen at a time and have the ability to transmit multiple pathogens through a single tick bite.
Recently the trend of multiple pathogens, aka co-infections, have been increasing and has been referred to as the 'Tick Triad' reflecting the three most commonly involved diseases: Borreliosis (Lyme/Master's Diseases), Ehrlichiosis, and Babesiosis. This occurrence of co-infections has been confirmed in research conducted in tick, animals, and human studies.
